The 95 passengers on last Sunday night's Spanair flight JKK648 from Barcelona to Santiago de Compostela took a while to get over their surprise at landing in Sevilla.
It seems that the Swedish crew of the Nordic Airways plane chartered to cover the route mistook the airport code for Santiago (SVQ) with the one for Sevilla (SCQ), when they put together the flight plan.
Unaware of the mistake until they landed in Sevilla owing to the crew's inability to communicate effectively with Spanish air traffic controllers, the plane eventually landed in Galicia shortly after midnight, around an hour and a half behind schedule.
The return flight to El Prat landed shortly before 2am.
Delayed passengers were compensated with discount coupons for their next Spanair flight.
