Warning signs to stop tourists climbing Segovia aqueduct
CITY authorities in Segovia have had to put signs up to warn visitors and residents not to keep climbing the famous aqueduct.
The temptation is too much for some locals and tourists, who are frequently seen scrambling up the lower arches or trying to walk along the edges of them.
A second, smaller sign warns members of the public that the Roman aqueduct – one of Spain's most iconic and best-known monuments, is a protected heritage site and any damage caused to it is considered a criminal offence.
The 'no-climbing' sign is much larger and more prominent, and is written in Spanish, French and English.
