SIX bodies of African migrants have been found off the coast of the province of Cádiz after their raft sank in the high seas as they attempted to reach Europe through the 'back door'.
One of the deceased is from North Africa and the other five are sub-Saharans, police say.
Two men were found dead at 09.10 this morning (Saturday) in the Punta Carnero area of Algeciras, and a third body of a sub-Saharan man was discovered near the El Tolmo Fort on the Algeciras coast at around 12.40 midday.
Later, a woman of black African origin and a man from North Africa were found at 17.20 on Bolonia beach in Tarifa.
And late last night, a sixth victim, male and also black African, was found on the shore between Algeciras and Tarifa.
Coastguard workers are keeping an eye out with the help of helicopters, patrol boats and planes for two possible raftloads of migrants which may or may not still be afloat.
It is thought the craft which sank was carrying 11 would-be immigrants, and another had 10 passengers on board.
Emergency services fear the six found so far are just the beginning, and that more bodies will be discovered over the next few hours.
At around the same time, another raft was found off the coast of the Spanish-owned city-province of Ceuta on the northern Moroccan shore carrying eight people, one of whom was already dead.
