The inferno broke out at around 12.50 on the top floor of the Hotel Expo, and was thought to have started in an air-conditioning unit.
Within 10 minutes, a total of 10 fire engines were on the scene and all guests and staff had left the building.
The emergency response team, who tweeted the above photograph, said the huge clouds of smoke made the fire look worse than it was.
They said a cursory inspection showed no structural damage had been caused by the flames, but that a full survey would be carried out as a precaution.
None of the guests or staff were harmed and it is not thought that anyone suffered loss of or damage to their personal belongings.
