Horrorland will be based in the disused waterworks and neighbouring warehouses in Cercs, a town around an hour from Barcelona city.
According to promotional blurb for the park, it will be a place where 'nightmares become reality' and will include numerous attractions and rides with a 'terror' theme, plus 'challenge' or obstacle courses where visitors have to get through 'frightening' hurdles to reach the final.
This will be the first Horrorland park in southern Europe – others in the series exist already in the UK, The Netherlands and Germany – and is run by the Catalunya-based companies Insomnia Group and Horror Box.
Dubbed a 'scream park' – a word-play on 'theme park' – Horrorland Barcelona will open over weekends between October 11 and November 17, for a total of 15 days.
Prices and opening times will be posted on its website nearer the time.
