This land forms an inseparable part of the Camino de Santiago, since according to Jacobean tradition, the body of the Apostle James landed at the Roman port of Iria Flavia, Padrón. Over time, the consolidation of pilgrimages to Santiago affected all the places along the Camino, and the town of Padrón, as a point of the Portuguese Way, was one of them. Every year thousands of pilgrims pass through Padrón walking to Compostela, since in many cases it constitutes the starting point of the last stage of the Portuguese Way. The distance to the coast, to Villagarcía de Arosa, is 32Km, which are traveled by the AP-9 highway, and with Rianxo the distance is 20Km.
