There are so many different areas to sit and enjoy either sun or shade in the garden, by the pool, on balconies, terraces and the solarium, that you really are spoilt for choice. The upper level comprises a dining area adjacent to the main entrance with its own sun terrace. This area is separated from the lounge by an archway, as is the kitchen on the other side of the lounge. There are two bedrooms leading off from the lounge too, with an en-suite shower room to the main bedroom, and an additional family bathroom. The focal point of the lounge is a traditional stone fireplace with log burner, and the two large windows either side of the fireplace, allowing a glimpse of the fantastic views this property has to offer.
The kitchen has access to a small terrace which the owners say is their favourite place to enjoy a cosy drink and take in the scenery. A spiral staircase leads up from this terrace to the solarium which offers even more privacy and stunning views.
The lower floor is accessed via external steps on either side of the property and comprises a summer kitchen, laundry room, underbuild/workshop area and a full guest apartment with lounge, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. It offers a high level of comfort for your friends and family who wish to visit you but have their own independent holiday whilst staying with you, or simply a separate living area for you to enjoy.
Of course one of the main attractions is the 8x4 metre swimming pool for you to cool off and splash around in! The pool has been recently fitted with a new saltwater filtration system and heating, so you can use the pool nearly all year round! The costs of heating the pool are not excessive, so why not make the most of this great feature!
The summer kitchen is beautifully tiled in a traditional style and doubles as a bar area if you just want a place to fix yourself a cocktail when you´ve finished in the pool.
The gardens are beautifully kept with many beautiful tropical plants to admire and if you are a bird-watcher, you will be able to enjoy lots of different species, such as the parrots you can see in the photographs!
Off-road parking is provided for your vehicle underneath the carport, and there is usually plenty of additional street parking available.
Las Comunicaciones is an exclusive residential area with the Sierra Escalona pine forest and nature reserve as a backdrop (a great place for nature lovers to enjoy long walks through unspoilt scenery), and the town centre of San Miguel itself only a short drive (about 5 minutes) away.
The nearest bar/restaurants are Pimientos (international cuisine) and Alingui (located in the castle of Conesa about 2 km or 30 minutes walk away), but if you have transport or have a taxi you can choose between all the eating establishments in San Miguel, Villamartín plaza, La Fuente etc. But one of our favourite places to head for, whether it´s for a great meal or to enjoy being by the seaside is the fabulous beach resort of Mil Palmeras, which is easily reached via a very pleasant 15 minute drive through citrus groves and past golf courses and pine forest.
San Miguel de Salinas is a very popular Spanish town just 15 minutes drive from the beaches of Mil Palmeras, Campoamor, Cabo Roig, La Zenia, Torrevieja, La Mata, Guardamar etc and surrounded by beautiful countryside which includes citrus and almond groves and the national park of Sierra Escalona right on our doorstep. You can walk and cycle for miles along the canal which runs right next to the town.
There are a great variety of bars and restaurants, both Spanish and international (the annual tapas run event is very popular!). If you are looking for a holiday destination or a place to live all year round, San Miguel is a great choice as it has all amenities (excellent primary and secondary schools, banks, health centre which never closes, 3 pharmacies, large outdoor swimming pool, football and athletics stadium, 5-a-side football pitch, tennis courts, padel courts, basketball courts, petanca, crown green bowls etc) and maintains the same rhythm throughout the year (ie not too busy in the summer, and not too quiet in the winter).
The pace of life is gentle and relaxing, and prices in the bars tend to be more reasonable than the coast. The weekly Wednesday street market is a great opportunity to stock up on locally grown fresh fruit and vegetables, hams, cheeses, olives, clothes and shoes etc, before having a drink and tapas in one of our friendly tavernas!
There is a good local taxi service and buses run several times daily to Torrevieja, Orihuela and Murcia. Alicante and Murcia airport are both approx 40 mins drive away. Internet services are generally fast (fibre-optic) and reliable. San Miguel is a place where you can enjoy a taste of traditional Spanish life and culture, whilst being close enough to the coast to enjoy all the great things the Costa Blanca has to offer. ¡Bienvenidos a San Miguel de Salinas!
