Calpe expat population rises to 61%

thinkSPAIN Team 31/12/2005

Calpe revealed yesterday that it population during 2005 was 27,171 people, 1,844 more than the previous year.

Breaking the figures down, it revealed that 10,719 people (39%) were Spanish, and living in the municipality, whilst 16,452 (61%) were foreigners.

Whilst a vast majority of the latter came from England and Germany, there was also a notable increase in the Rumanian population, going from 684 last year to the current figure of 941.
