A SPELLING mistake in road markings at a junction caused widespread mirth and generated numerous photos on Tuesday - all in the space of a few hours before it was painted out.
Highway technicians repainting the worn-out white lines on an industrial estate in Ibi (Alicante province) mixed up the letters of the 'STOP' signal and wrote it as 'SOTP'.
It was not until several hours later that someone pointed it out to the workers when they finally coloured it in and rewrote it - but not before several photos had been taken and gone viral on social networks.
A spate of similar examples of misspelling of 'STOP' signals at junctions have done the rounds on the internet, such as the one pictured - a slight variation on the Ibi version, reading SOPT, has been photographed in many locations worldwide.
