The distressed lady was balancing on a concrete beam above the southern city's northern ringroad, eight metres (26 feet) from the ground, and was planning to jump.
Careful coaxing and encouragement kept her on the beam long enough for one of the brigade to crawl along the narrow concrete ledge over the sheer drop and grab her from behind, pinning her down.
She was carried back to terra firma where she was attended to by medical services.
Firefighter Iván Muñoz Bernabé posted the above photograph on Twitter (@ivi_munoz), and said: “These interventions are the ones that keep you 'on fire' and make the effort of giving it your all worthwhile.”
