A SERIES of fraudulent emails purporting to come from the BBVA bank have been flagged up by the National Institute of Cyber Safety (INCIBE) based in the city of León.
The emails are titled, 'Suspension: Session Error', and direct the account-holder to a website which appears to be the BBVA's offical page by asking him or her to click on a link.
Once there, the user's ID is stolen and money is withdrawn from the account.
Anyone who has fallen into the trap should contact the BBVA immediately, INCIBE says.
No bank will ever send an email asking the user to click on a link, and if they do, the account-holder should enter the site themselves via the usual web address in a different window.
PINs and usernames should never be entered except after manually accessing the official bank website.
