The 34-year-old was heard by her neighbours crying for help outside her home on the C/ Gabasti in the neighbourhood of Ciudad Lineal at around 19.00 last night (Saturday).
She had collapsed on the pavement outside, which was where the first police officers to reach the scene delivered her third child, all three of whom are girls.
By the time the ambulance arrived, she was lying on the path with the infant on her chest and the umbilical cord still attached, but the baby had not yet cried or reacted.
Paramedics gave the infant the usual stimulation and report that 'everything went normally' from then on.
Mum and baby were admitted last night to the O'Donnell maternity ward at Madrid's Gregorio Marañón hopsital, and are said to be doing well.
