Guillermo Rodríguez Giraldo, 12, found a purse on the Street with a large sum of cash and an ID card in it, and handed it in to the Local Police intact.
It has since been returned to its rightful owner.
Guillermo is the youngest-ever recipient of the award, but deserves it because of his ‘ethical and community-spirited action’, says mayor Javier Ayala.
He collected his prize at an awards ceremony in Fuenlabrada town hall, along with other individuals and organisations nominated.
La Casita, a local charity which distributes food parcels to 50 residents, also won a Community Safety Award, whilst police officers from Badajoz, Huelva and the region of Castilla y León received medals for merit.
