The resident found the envelope on the pavement near the La Caleta courts, which included a note with the AECC's letterhead and a bank account number.
She immediately gave it to the Guardia Civil officers on duty at the court building.
Police used the bank account number to trace the original bearer, and found out a woman who works for the AECC had been taking it to put in the bank, and lost it en route.
The distressed employee said the money was the proceeds of a recent AECC lottery.
Guardia Civil officers put the two women in touch with each other so the AECC worker could thank the finder.
