GREAT news is afoot for residents and homeowners on Marbella's Lunamar urbanisation – if they drive, that is.
Two spacious new car parks are being built, which will be free of charge to use – and, helpfully, the bays will be clearly signposted so you know straight away whether there are vacant ones available and where they are.
This saves driving around in circles looking for somewhere to leave your vehicle – saving time, frustration and emissions.
Whilst creating the three-quarter-acre tarmac-surface parking lot, the Costa del Sol town's local council plans to give the entire residential complex a facelift, carrying out maintenance and general tidying up.
Entrance roads to the urbanisation will be given an overhaul to make them easier and more comfortable to find and use, and pavements will be resurfaced for safety and convenience.
A general 'snagging list' of jobs will be carried out at the same time, giving the complex an MOT – or ITV, as these inspections are known in Spain.
Now for the downside: Work has already started, but will not be finished until around mid-July, during which time some disruption is inevitable.
Marbella council apologises for this, but assures it will be worth it in the end.
And for those who have to take their summer breaks during UK school holidays, all works will be complete and the car park ready to use by the time you get there.
It's part of an ongoing plan to freshen up the town and its outer residential hubs, to ensure Marbella continues to live up to its status as Europe's most exclusive holiday destination.
